I. Sylvester Levay International Musical Singing Competition

The competition aims to:
Give an opportunity to talented young people from different countries to test their skills through the songs of Sylvester Levay, the world-famous Hungarian-born musical author.
The competition material:
Musical songs including songs from Sylvester Levay
(especially: Elisabeth, Mozart!, Rebecca, Maria Antoinette)
1. Women solo
Elisabeth, ‘I’, Constanze, Marie Antoinette, Baroness Waldstätten, Nannerl, Mrs. Danvers, Beatrice
2. Men solo
Wolfgang Mozart, Maxim de Winter, Death, Rudolph, Colloredo
3. Character singer
Mrs. Van Hopper, Jack Fawell, Schikaneder, Frau Wolf, Lucheni
Preselections: Budapest, Graz, Munich, Prague, Bucharest, Nove Zamky, Targu Mures, London, Tokyo, Seoul and Sylvester Levay’s hometown: Subotica.
Semi-final: Subotica (National Theatre)
Final: Palics Open Air Theatre

Conditions of application:
Detailed CV, photo, correctly completed application form.
Conservatory, drama or music college degree is not necessary.
Women: 18-26 years
Men: 18-30 years
(Exemption is possible by the jury)
In the preselections the competitor must present two musical songs of one’s personal choice with piano or other musical accompaniment.
Entry fee: 30 Euros (EUR)
2. Semi-final (Subotica)
an excerpt (solo song) from Sylvester Levay’s musicals and another song of the competitors choice.
Songs accompaniments must be provided by the competitors on an audio CD and delivered for the organizers at the registration in Subotica
Entry fee: 50 Euros (EUR)
3. Final (Palics Open Air)
a, a solo song from one of Sylvester Levay’s musicals with orchestra
b, a duet from one of Sylvester Levay’s musicals
c, a musical song of the competitor’s choice with orchestra
An international expert panel of 5-7 members.
First prize: 5000 EUR
Second prize: 3000 EUR
Third prize: 2000 EUR
Special aard in each categories: 1000 EUR
